This month has been a meaningful reminder that growth in healthcare happens not only through better systems, but through continued learning, stronger communication, and a deeper commitment to people.
At Care Indeed, we welcomed our fourth batch of CI-ION students, continuing our investment in preparing caregivers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to provide compassionate, high-quality care.
I was also privileged to speak about dementia care at Bethel Church in San Jose and at Atria Foster Square. These conversations continue to reinforce how important education is- not only in helping families understand dementia, but also in helping communities respond with greater patience, empathy, and dignity.
Another highlight was the opportunity to speak with hospital social workers about understanding and communicating with clients more effectively, particularly during discharge transitions. Discharge can be an overwhelming time for patients and families, and thoughtful communication can make a significant difference in helping people feel heard, respected, and supported.
Healthcare continues to evolve quickly. Technology, regulations, and care models will continue to change, but one principle should remain constant: we must continue making a conscious effort to humanize healthcare and keep people at the center of every decision.
I look forward to continuing our community education efforts and conversations around dementia, Parkinson’s disease, caregiving, communication, and person-centered care.
Because at the heart of healthcare, there is always a person- and they should never feel lost in the system.
