Successful Caregiving: Stronger than the Storm
Care Indeed is one of the proud sponsors for the Avenidas Caregiver Conference entitled, "Successful Caregiving: Stronger than the Storm", where you will be able to delve into successful caregiving best practices, further develop your strength-based skills, consult with experts, and network with sponsors and peers.
Paula Wolfson, LCSW, will present strategies for reframing caregiving as an opportunity to build resilience. Dr. Mehrdad Ayati will discuss the impact of dementia symptoms on mental health and provide strategies for obtaining an accurate diagnosis and care plan. Dr. Marina Martin will cover decision-making in end-of-life care, emphasizing honoring individual preferences and the caregiver's role as a legal decision maker.

ENYI Engage Empower Connect with Vanessa Valerio
Last January 11, 2025, participants joined an insightful session led by Vanessa Valerio, RN, CCM, CHCA, a seasoned healthcare professional and Certified Dementia Coach. With over a decade of experience in elder care, Vanessa guided families and caregivers through the critical distinctions between normal aging and dementia.
Drawing from her expertise in person-centered dementia care and her ongoing Master of Science in Gerontology studies at USC, Vanessa provided practical tips for recognizing the signs of cognitive decline and managing the challenges that come with caregiving. She also shared strategies rooted in Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care® to support individuals with dementia compassionately and effectively.
Attendees left the event equipped with a deeper understanding of aging and dementia, along with actionable tools to enhance the quality of life for their loved ones and themselves. Thank you to everyone who joined us in this important conversation!

Parking Instructions
Metered and non-metered street parking as well as self-pay garages are located nearby. Parking can be difficult, so allow extra time, or consider using public transportation, rideshares or taxi. The #1, #2 and #33 SF Muni buses have stops within a block of our facility.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations for the workshop must be made by noon, two business day before the start of the six-week session or the full class fee will be charged to the credit card on file.

Enrollment policy: A valid credit card number is required to reserve your spot in the series. The fee is charged on the day of the class. Fragrance Policy: Please refrain from wearing perfumes and other strongly scented products as these may intensify the health conditions of other students in the class.
Health Conditions (recent surgeries/injuries/ongoing health issues): Students are encouraged to consult with their health care provider(s) before beginning or returning to our yoga/fitness classes.

As part of the Channing House Dementia Program -“The Golden Leaf Program,” Channing House is happy to present Laura Wayman- The Dementia Whisperer. This free seminar will cover information in providing a quality of life, meaningful connections, communication, a safe living environment, appropriate supervision, and care, fostering a sense of hope and optimism to health care staff caring for any individual with dementia symptoms.
